Provincetown Art Association and Museum
I developed the Provincetown Art Association and Museum website working with Sametz Blackstone Associates. This is a custom WordPress theme with some complexity. The seasonal Workshop course creation was the most challenging. I was able to utilize reusable to content to make the Workshop creation process very easy for the PAAM staff. Course and Teaching Artist post types can be selected for each course along with manually entered course date information to create the courses for each Workshop season. Advanced Custom Fields and ACF:Repeating Fields plugins helped facilitate this. The courses and teaching artists are often reused for each season, so after these items were created the site administrators could create seasonal Workshops very easily. Each Workshop’s courses have filtered views of subject and date.
Exhibitions were set up to automatically categorize as past, current, or upcoming depending on the date. PAAM admin staff can also easily insert accordion modules, highly stylized page image and excerpt lists with linked titles, and image carousels with light box ability on any page. They can also add various types of advertising like objects (internal links, external links, forms, sponsors, predefined modules) to the sidebar of any page through an easy to use UI created using ACF, ACF:Repeating Fields, and ACF:Flexible Content. There is also online store capability utilizing Shopp and Stripe.
I really enjoyed working on this project. Plans are in place to fully implement responsive capability and workshop course purchases in Shopp. This site would not have been possible without the strategy from Brandon Walsh, design from Joerg Dressler, and the outstanding work of the PAAM team.
